In a first-of-its-kind cross-border creator initiative, the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka hosted a special India–Sri Lanka Creator Meetup aimed at leveraging social media for tourism promotion. The event brought together top Sri Lankan digital creators for an intimate exchange with Indian travel and lifestyle influencer Vaibhav Arora who has over 2 Mn followers on Instagram, spotlighting the role of digital storytelling in shaping the future of regional travel.

Held in Colombo, the session fostered conversation around how creators can collaboratively strengthen India–Sri Lanka tourism linkages, particularly in luxury and experiential travel segments.


Building Tourism Through Creator Collaboration

The discussion emphasized the growing influence of digital creators in driving cultural narratives, travel trends, and destination visibility. The creators shared ideas on content strategy, cross-border campaigns, and future collaborations that can amplify both countries as tourism destinations in the digital age.

The event also delved into upcoming collaboration opportunities, creator-led tourism campaigns, and the importance of showcasing authentic, experience-rich travel content.

The Sri Lankan creators who took part in the meetup included: Saasha Karunarathne, Indunil Wijekoon, Mithrakumar Sasikumar, Pearlija Jeyarajah, Natasha Peiris and Dinesh Pathum

Together, these voices represented a diverse blend of fashion, travel, food, lifestyle, and cultural storytelling — reflecting the full spectrum of Sri Lanka’s growing creator economy.

The initiative reflects a growing interest in creator diplomacy — using influencer-driven storytelling to strengthen bilateral ties and tourism economies.
